What do I think?

Have I been busy the past few days? I’m not sure. I’m sure that I have been lazy though. Don’t matter, what matters now is that I am back to reviewing books that I’ve read and I am beyond excited about this book. It was last year when I first noticed that my friend have been retweeting a lot of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s tweets that I eventually start reading about it too. Then I read about some of those tweets going to be compiled into a book, and so I decided to buy and read it for myself.

Lin says that he considers the tweets as either poetry, sayings, and aphorisms. Whatever it may be, I had a great time reading it, accompanied by spot on and simple illustration from Jonny Sun. I read the book twice; the first I read it from front to back, noting down the pages that I like the most, and the second time I read the book, I treat it like my own personal magic eight ball. I would ask myself a question and then just randomly open any page and consider whatever page I opened to be either the answer to my question or like pick-me-up sentences.

However you use this book, or whether you understand poems or not, this was definitely an easy book you can just fall in love with when you read it. Some are heartwarming, some are cheeky, some are funny, and some are simple as simple can get and yet sometimes the simple ones are the ones that connects with you the most. Or at least, that’s how it goes for me.

What’s it about?

Taken from Goodreads

Before he inspired the world with Hamilton and was catapulted to international fame, Lin-Manuel Miranda was inspiring his Twitter followers with words of encouragement at the beginning and end of each day. He wrote these original sayings, aphorisms, and poetry for himself as much as for others. But as Miranda’s audience grew, these messages took on a life on their own. Now, at the request of countless fans, Miranda has gathered the best of his daily greetings into a beautiful collection illustrated by acclaimed artist (and fellow Twitter favorite) Jonny Sun. Full of comfort and motivation, Gmorning, Gnight! is a touchstone for anyone looking for a lift.
